About Rose Marie

Rose Marie Floyd, Director and Choreographer of the Contemporary Civic Ballet Company, founded her non-profit company in 1956 to provide advanced dancers the experience of performing in a company and to further the cultural development of the community. Many of her students have become professional dancers in major companies, including the Joffrey Ballet, Netherlands Dance Co., Houston Ballet, Martha Graham, Cleveland Ballet, Modern Dance companies and Broadway Musicals.

A graduate of Wayne State University, Rose Marie holds the Final Maestro Cecchetti Diploma, the most advanced honor in the Cecchetti Society, a branch of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing of England, and the Cecchetti Council of America. She is a permanent Examiner, Past President, and on the National Board of the C.C.A.

Miss Floyd has received the "Woman of the Year" award from Soroptimists International and the "Teacher of the Year" award from the Michigan Dance Association. She has been awarded the “Arts Achievement Award” from Wayne State University and was selected for “Who's Who Among Teachers in America” in 1996. Rose Marie was a recipient of a Dance Teacher Magazine award for the 2005 Outstanding Ballet Teacher in the private and academy categories in the U.S.A.

The Rose Marie Floyd Endowed Scholarship in Dance is awarded at Wayne State University.
